You think being there is enough.
It’s not.

A lot of players show up to practice.
Very few decide to be there.

That gap shows up in your work, your focus, and how you respond when things get hard.

Here are 5 ways to compete different…

1. Decide you want to be there

Showing up is automatic.
Choosing it is intentional.

If you’re just going through reps, you’re already behind.

Your move:
Before practice starts, make a decision. You’re here to work. Lock in from the first rep and don’t drift.

2. Pay attention to your thoughts

You don’t lose confidence all at once.
It slips when you ignore what’s going on in your head.

Unchecked bad thoughts turn into poor performance.

Your move:
Catch it early. When your focus slips or doubt shows up, reset. One pitch, one play. Get back to what matters.

3. Don’t confuse playing time with stability

Starting doesn’t mean you’re solid.
Stats don’t fix your mindset.

You can be performing and still be off internally.

Your move:
Build routines that keep you steady. Same approach whether you’re 3-for-3 or 0-for-3. Your standard can’t depend on results.

4. Speak up before it gets worse

Most players wait too long.
They try to handle everything alone.

That’s where things start to break.

Your move:
Talk early. Coach. Teammate. Parent. Get perspective before it compounds. You don’t have to carry it by yourself.

5. Stay when it gets uncomfortable

The easy move is to check out.
Competitors stay and work through it.

That’s where growth actually happens.

Your move:
When practice gets tough or confidence dips, lean in. Finish strong. Compete through it instead of backing off.

Time to Step Up!

Most players are present.
Competitors are committed.

That decision shows up in everything you do.

Forward this to a player who needs it.
